Things I Wish I’d Known before Studying at Institute of Science Nirma University

Campus life at Institute of Science, Nirma University is an exquisite blend of art of excellence learning academic facilities and socio-cultural activities that are required for all round development. I learned a lot in ISNU and had an unforgettable life experience there, but there is so much I wish I would knew before and would have prepared myself for this era of life. Here are 5 things I wish I knew before studying at ISNU.

1. University Rules and Regulations: Institute of Science, Nirma University strictly follows a written set of rules and regulations for maintaining discipline and dignity of institute. Everything is available on their website, I wish I’d have gone through them so that could spare myself from getting penalised for my mistakes. Also, if I would have gone through them, it would have helped me for knowing the mechanism of addressing student grievance. When you are a student, you make many mistakes either knowingly or unknowingly. A student must know to differentiate between casual mistakes and crimes; and must be aware of punishments or penalties that are as per university norms.

2. Scholarship Programs: There are many state, national and international scholarship programs available for supporting higher studies. Institute of Science, Nirma University  also have its own scholarship programs to support brilliant students throughout their academics. Application for most of the scholarships closes before the beginning of academic year. That was the reason; I hadn’t secured any scholarship in my first year. For availing scholarship options for the first year, students have to apply before. If I’d have known this before, I could have reduced my expenses.

3. Social and Cultural Activities: Trust me, throughout your course completion, you will find a huge number of social and cultural activities and events in Institute of Science, Nirma University  included but not limited to Annual Sports Competitions, Cultural Festivals, Ras Garba, Independence Day and Republic Day Celebration, Institute Level and Inter Institute competitions of Volleyball, Football, Cricket, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Tug of War, Athletics besides adventure activities like mountaineering camps at Himalaya, Desert Adventure Camps are also organized. I wish I’d have packed well and brought required stuffs with me so that I could have participated in many of them.

4. Anti-Ragging Committee: Though I had submitted the undertaking as per UGC norms, still I was not much aware about Anti-Ragging Committee and their norms. ISNU have strict norms and regulations that prohibit any kind of ragging in institute. One of my batch mates had been rusticated as he was involved in this anti-social activity. I would like to advice my readers that before enrolling to ISNU, you must keep one thing in your mind that ragging in any form, is prohibited inInstitute of Science, Nirma University.

5. Welcoming Gujarati Culture: I was always attracted toward colourful culture of Gujarat, the most welcoming culture I have ever seen. Before ISNU, being native to other state, I was a bit conscious about moving to Gujarat. Also, in my beginning year, I hardly used to go outside the campus and interact with strangers. It’s only after almost one year, I had started knowing Gujarat. If I’d have known about the welcoming Gujarati people, I would have explored more.
Above mentioned are few of my wishes that will never get completed. Hope, it will help other ISNU seekers for having more enriched experience at Institute of Science, Nirma UniversityFor more details visit: http://www.nirmauni.ac.in/ISNU
